It was discovered by Samuel Hahneman, when, whilst translating a Materia Medica found himself in disagreement with what was written about the actions of quinine in the treatment of malaria. He decided to test it on himself and found that quinine created the same symptoms suffered by those with malaria. |

It then occurred to him that if the drug could create the same symptoms as malaria, it could well be the cure for it, and so, homoeopathy was born. Hahneman studied and tested his medicines on people for the next 20 years and had amazing success in the treatment of the French army for typhoid in 1813.
Many other contemporaries followed Hahneman and many more studies, provings, material medica’s and repertories were undertaken and written.
